Bonang Dorothy Matheba, widely recognized as Matheba, is a prominent South African television presenter, radio personality, actress, and social media sensation. She is celebrated for her exceptional presenting skills and unique voice. Bonang gained industry recognition by hosting the show SABC 1 LIVE (now known as Live Amp). Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the first black female in South Africa to appear in numerous magazines.

Bonang Dorothy Matheba was born on June 25, 1987, in Mahikeng, North West, South Africa. In 2011, she became the first South African celebrity to launch an online reality show, BDazzled*. In 2013, she made history as Revlon’s first international ambassador outside the United States.
In 2014, Bonang was the first South African to host the MTV International Music Awards pre-show. By 2015, she became the first African to receive an E! News Special Africa. Her social media presence is massive, boasting over 5 million followers on Instagram and Twitter.
Matheba has hosted numerous prestigious events, including the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2016, Miss South Africa 2018, and the pre-shows for the 2014 MTV European Music Awards and BET Awards 2016. On December 2, 2018, she co-hosted the Global Citizen: Mandela 100 event alongside Trevor Noah, Naomi Campbell, and other notable personalities.
Bonang’s acting debut came in 2008 with a role as Nurse Seipati on SABC 1’s InterSEXions. In 2019, she starred in and produced the documentary Public Figure, which premiered at the Manchester Film Festival.
In 2017, she launched her production company, Bonang Matheba Entertainment, producing the 1Magic live TV series Becoming Bonang, which chronicles her daily life.
In May 2022, Bonang participated in the African Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
In 2009, Bonang joined YFM as a presenter targeting young listeners, eventually leaving the station in 2014. In 2015, she joined Metro FM, succeeding Siphokazi January. Her show, The Front Row, enjoyed significant popularity until a conflict over a restructuring led to her departure.
Bonang’s television journey began in 2002 on the SABC 2 children’s series Manhattan Fantasy Challenge. After graduating in 2007, she co-hosted the SABC 1 music program LIVE (now Live Amp) alongside Tbo Touch, earning the nickname "Queen B". She left LIVE in 2012 and later hosted several other shows, including Clash of the Choirs SA, Afternoon Express, Top Billing, and KFC Taste Kitchen.
Bonang is embracing a new chapter in her life, reportedly dating entrepreneur and executive producer David Phume of Cake Media, following her previous relationship with the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.
