Nse Ikpe-Etim is an award winning Nigerian actress, born on October 21, 1974, in Lagos State, Nigeria. She gained recognition in 2008, particularly for her role in "Reloaded." Notably, she received nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 5th and 8th Africa Movie Academy Awards for her performances in "Reloaded" and "Mr. and Mrs.," respectively.

 

In 2014, Nse clinched the Best Actress in a Drama award at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her portrayal of "Nse" in "Journey to Self." Despite facing challenges with infertility, she openly discussed her journey, emphasizing her lack of shame regarding her inability to conceive.

Early Life

 

 

Nse Ikpe-Etim, born on October 21, 1974, in Lagos, attended Awa Nursery School and Command Primary School in Kaduna State. She continued her education at Louis College, Jos, and Federal Government Colleges in Jos and Ilorin, as her family moved due to her father's career with the Central Bank of Nigeria. Nse earned her first degree in Theater Arts from the University of Calabar.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personal Life

 

 

 

As the eldest of six children, Nse shared in an interview that she had Caucasian Godparents. She married Clifford Sule, her childhood friend, on February 14, 2013, in Lagos. Their traditional wedding ceremonies took place in Akwa Ibom State and Lagos. Currently residing in London with her husband, a senior lecturer at Middlesex University, Nse adhered to Nigeria's COVID-19 directives after returning from the UK in March 2020.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Womb Removal

 

 

Nse Ikpe-Etim revealed undergoing womb removal due to adenomyosis, a gynecological disorder. Diagnosed in 2016, she faced the difficult decision after her doctor informed her that removing her uterus was necessary for a normal life, revealing her inability to bear children.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Career

 

 

 

Commencing her acting journey at 18 on the university stage, Nse's TV debut was in the family soap "Inheritance." After a hiatus post-graduation, she returned with Emem Isong’s "Reloaded." In 2019, she was featured in the Visual Collaborative Polaris catalogue.
