Jewel Ackah, a renowned Ghanaian highlife singer, rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s with his captivating voice and enticing Fante lyrics. Born in 1945 in Axim, Ghana, to Emmanuel Ackah and Cecilia Dye, he began his education at Axim Roman Catholic Primary School and completed it in Takoradi in 1963.

Before his music career, Ackah had a stint as a footballer and worked at a shipping company called Palm Line, but later realized that his passion was in music. He joined a traditional drumming group where he honed his skills and was soon discovered by the legendary musician Ebo Taylor.
He then began playing live dance band and worked with prominent names such as Elgrand Kwofie, C.K. Mann, and Jos Akins. Ackah's debut album "Gyaki Me" in the Nzema dialect was released in 1974 and won him several awards. He also collaborated with Pat Thomas on the hit song "False Lover" the same year.
As a drummer, he joined the famous Sweet Beans Band and was eventually called upon to lead the Sweet Talks in Tema. He made several trips to the United States, Canada, and Europe, and has over 27 albums to his credit.
In the late 1990s, Ackah found Christ and shifted to gospel music. He is married and has six children. Ackah's contribution to the Ghanaian music industry is still celebrated to this day, and his legacy lives on through his timeless music
