Michelle Chinwendu Alozie popularly known as Michelle Alozie, is an American-Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for the National Women’s Soccer League team Houston Dash and the Nigeria women’s national team. She was born on April 28th, 1997. Despite only debuting for the senior national team in 2021, she has quickly become a regular member of the squad. Alozie, hailing from the Imo State of Nigeria, was raised in Apple Valley, California, and attended Granite Hills High School. She pursued her passion for football while studying at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, playing for the Yale Bulldogs. Later, she transferred as a graduate to the University of Tennessee after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Career

In her professional career, Alozie joined BIIK Kazygurt, the reigning champions of the Kazakhstani women’s football championship, in January 2020. Subsequently, she joined the Houston Dash in 2021, initially as a trialist, and signed a full contract in August that year. She extended her contract with the Dash for two more years in December 2022.

Alozie made her senior debut for Nigeria on June 10, 2021, and later represented her country in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, playing a crucial role in Nigeria's matches. Off the field, she graduated from Yale University with a degree in molecular biology and works part-time as a cancer research technician at the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
