Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu best known as Sabinus (a.k.a Sabinwa, Investor Sabinus, Mr Funny, The Blue Chief), is an award winning and one of Nigeria well known comedian, content creator and actor. He was born on January 30, 1995 in Portharcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Originally Sabinus hails from Rivers State, a state in the South southern part of Nigeria.

Early Life And Education

Sabinus was born and brought up by his both parents in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Coming from an average and humble family background, Sabinus attended his secondary school education in Rivers. He studied Linguistics and Communication Studies at the prestigious University of Port Harcourt.

Career

Sabinus discovered his comedy talent at a young age, and he acted fast in using it. He began actively doing comedy skits while he was in university. This was in 2015 during a particular School Student Union week. Sabinus decided to pursue his career further by uploading various comedy skits on his social media handles, especially Instagram. Soon enough, he started getting noticed by top Instagram influencers who started sharing his skits. In a short time, Sabinus garnered many followers who began to like and comment on his status. Even as I write this article, his Instagram followers continue to rise.

His popularity has earned some notable recognition. He is the brand ambassador for a popular betting site: Oddstackr. Some of his role models who have influenced him in his comedy career are Mr Ibu and Charles Inojie.

Sabinus has also been featured in incredible Nollywood movies, the likes of ‘Billionaire’s Bride’, ‘Man of War’ etc.

Who Is Sabinus Girlfriend/Wife?

Sabinus or Mr. Funny is not married yet, however, he is in a serious relationship with his girlfriend, and her name is Ciana Chapman also known as Mercy Inyama).

Sabinus and Ciana have been dating for close to 10 years now. Sabinus met her in Uniport, and they were in the same department at the University of Port Harcourt – Linguistics.

She is from Abia State, and they have been dating before Sabinus had his first breakthrough. There are posts on Naira Diary about Sabinus' girlfriend, and one of them has screenshots of Sabinus calling her Baby Boo as far back as 2017 on Facebook. In that same post, Investor Sabinus romanticized her with words like “I love and cherish you badly, miss you, heart you, adore you.”

Parents And Siblings

Sabinus was born to Mr. Ejekwu and has two siblings, Josephine Adaeze and Emmanuella Ejekwu. Though not much information is known about his mother.

Controversies

In May 2022, Sabinus, a prominent content creator in Nigeria, reportedly filed a lawsuit against Peak Milk for the unauthorized use of his trademarked phrase "Something Hooge." In a pre-suit notice dated May 27, 2022, signed by his lead counsel, Mr. Stanley Alieke, Sabinus demanded a payment of N500m for the alleged infringement of his intellectual property and an additional 500m for damages related to emotional, physical, psychological, and mental trauma resulting from the trademark theft.

The comedian pointed out that Friesland Food Wamco Nigerian PLC, a company associated with Peak Milk, utilized his trademarked slogan to advertise their product.

During the same month, Sabinus also issued a legal threat against UAC Food Ltd, the producer of Gala sausage, for using his likeness and intellectual properties in their product promotion. He highlighted a post on UAC Food's Instagram account on May 23, 2022, featuring his cartoon likeness with the caption, "the way I calculate everything in my life."

The notice to UAC Foods, dated May 25, stated that the company had been using Sabinus's brand picture and other intellectual properties without consent for their Gala sausage roll advertisements. Sabinus gave both companies a 14-working-days to meet his demands or meet him in court.
